ሰላም,
I am an Eritrean born in Europe, raising a 3-year-old and a 7-year-old in the USA.
My parents were first generation immigrants, who were in love with their culture and tried to share its beauty and value in every way they could.
Their influence has transcended generations and now, as a parent myself, I know the struggle of keeping our kids connected to their roots, while living so far away from home.
Growing up, our culture was embedded in every occasion and activity, so we naturally grew to love it as part of our identity.
Today, I have made it my mission to find ways to relay that same love to our children, so they can learn to love and embrace their origins and step into the world with self-confidence and awareness.
